SEASIDE Apples

Grown with love in Red Point, Eastern Prince Edward Island, our apples have become known for their sweet and salty taste and hearty texture.

A splash of juicy flavour in every bite.

Red Point Apples are hardy and have a good story, like most folks who live and work near the shore. Only the strongest trees survive here, leaning into onshore winds and salt spray ripped from cresting whitecaps year round on nearby beaches.

Common varieties grown inland have an extra christening here at Red Point: We have Basin Head Honeycrisp, Up-East McIntosh, and Beachside Gala. Take one bite of our juicy honeycrisp, and you will understand. A bib does double duty, here and down the road at the local lobster spot.

Basin head Honeycrisp

Basin Head Honeycrisp is one of our most popular apples known for its sweet flavour with a hint of acidity and deep complexity. This variety keeps well in storage, and the taste intensifies when stored in a refrigerated space.

Beachside Gala

Beachside Gala is one of our favourite varieties that has proven to thrive in our ever-changing coastal environment. This orange and red coloured apple has a taste that is hard to beat with a punchy sweet flavour that goes well on its own or in your mothers famous homemade pie.

Cortland Dunes

Cortland Dunes is a famous variety north of the 49th parallel and well suited for apple orchards in colder climates. This McIntosh-style apple and best enjoyed shortly after picking when its sweet flavour and crispness are at their peak. Enjoy this apple with a local cheddar or gouda pairing.

UP-East MCIntosh

Dark, red, crunchy, and with a refreshing taste that is undeniably delicious. The Up-East McIntosh is well suited for our colder coastal growing conditions here in Prince Edward Island. Their flavour is often referred to as sweet with a touch of autumn spice and refreshing with a hint of wine.

LIttle Harbour Gravensteins

Known as a high-quality and aromatic apple used in deserts and culinary dishes, Little Harbour Gravensteins are a hardy variety that can withstand harsher environments. This apple produces a lot of juice and has a sweet-tart flavour with hints of honey.

Red Rock Ambrosias

Our Red Rock Ambrosia variety is best described as refreshing with mellow floral tasting notes, a crisp texture, and naturally low in acid. This apple keeps its fleshy white colour after being sliced, making it an excellent choice for snacks, salads and homestyle baking.

U-Pick With A Twist

“U-pick” doesn’t do justice to the experience of visiting Red Point Orchard. Inland orchards open their gates weeks before we do, because the ocean demands patience – and more time to fully ripen. It’s worth the wait.

Our picking season opens mid-October and will run as long for three or four weeks.
